Progression Lab
Gym QR code system

QR codes on every machine. That's the whole trick.

Print a QR code, stick it on the machine, done. Members scan it with their phone camera -- no app download required -- and instantly see how to use the equipment, then log their set in seconds. It's the simplest piece of hardware in your gym, doing the most work for retention.

What a QR code actually does at your gym

Scan-to-learn

Point a phone camera at the code on a machine -- no app to install, just the phone's built-in camera. Members instantly see which muscles the machine works, form cues, and a demo video you choose (your own upload or a YouTube link).

Scan-to-log

Right after scanning, members can log the weight and reps for that set in a couple taps. No searching through a long exercise list, no typing the machine name -- the QR code already told the system exactly which machine they're at.

Automatic history & PRs

Every logged set builds a history for that member on that specific machine. Personal records get tracked automatically, so progress is visible without anyone doing manual spreadsheet work.

No new hardware to manage

A QR code is just a printed sticker. No scanners, no kiosks, no proprietary hardware to buy, maintain, or replace when it breaks.

Why QR codes work better than the alternatives

The old way

  • • A laminated instruction card taped to the machine, ignored by everyone
  • • A whiteboard or paper log sheet nobody fills out consistently
  • • A generic fitness app members download once and never open again
  • • Staff answering "how do I use this machine" questions all day

The Progression Lab way

  • • No app download -- the phone's own camera opens the code instantly
  • • Logging takes seconds, right where the member already is
  • • Every scan is tied to your gym specifically, not a generic database
  • • Members get answers themselves, without pulling staff away from other work

Setting it up

Add your equipment

Create a profile for each machine -- name, muscles worked, cues, and an optional demo video.

Print the codes

Each machine gets its own unique QR code, generated automatically and ready to print and stick on.

Members just scan

No account setup needed to view machine info. Signed-in members can log sets and build their history right away.

FAQ

Do members need to download an app to scan the QR codes?
No. Any modern phone camera can scan a QR code directly and open the machine's page in a browser. An account is only needed to log sets and track personal history.
What if a QR code sticker gets damaged or falls off?
You can reprint any machine's code at any time from your admin panel -- the code itself doesn't change, so a replacement sticker just works.
Can I add my own demo videos instead of using YouTube?
Yes. Each machine can use either a YouTube link or a video you upload directly.
Is this included in the base plan, or an add-on?
Fully included. QR codes, scan-to-log, and machine history are core to the $249/month plan -- not a separate module.
